Turns out the two teams we lost to Indy finished first and second in the tournament. If you're going to lose, at least lose to the best I guess.
Since my Bears are sucking soooooo bad, I have to make some comments about the baseball playoffs (despite the incendiary comments sure to be posted by dejesus freak). As you probably already know, the Cubs made it in despite winning only 85 games (which means if they had lost 4 games that they won, they would have been at exactly 81-81). Not impressive, but not miserable, though they have the fewest wins of any team in the playoffs in baseball this year. That said, anything can happen.
A few comments about other teams of which you may not be all that aware. Colorado won 14 of it's last 15 including a stretch of 11 in a row to win the wild card spot. Most people I know didn't even include Colorado in the discussion regarding the playoffs and wild card in the National League even 25 days ago. San Diego had a firm hold on the west, but went 15-14 since 9/1 while Colorado tore it up and Arizona went 15-11 shutting San Diego out of the playoffs. Ugh.
The Mets of course, had the biggest collapse. They went 15-20 over their last 35 and pissed away a good sized lead to the Phillies. The Yankees, Joisey Ken's team, did the opposite and came back from dead in mid July to secure a wild card and almost with the division. At one point I know they were 11+ games behind the Red Sox and I think something like 7 games out of the wild card (when Seattle was in the lead for the wild card) and they fought back to make the playoffs with 94 wins! That's four more than any team in the National League. Yowza.
Anyway, it should be interesting to see how the Cubbies do. The games are on late this week, 9:00 cdt, which means lots of staying up late for me and not much sleep.

Nice T-Rex Tim. Nice. You want me to post that picture of you after the cubs game again?
oh, I miss baseball!! Even if cubbies are in the playoffs.
Yes. I have decided not to hate on the cubs for now. It is always exciting when a local team is in the playoffs.
D'backs in 3...count on it...
Actually, Joe, you didn't give me much on which to comment. I think the Cubs series can go either way -- a lot depends on which Carlos Zambrano shows up in Game 1 tonight. After that, I like the Cubs pitching in Games 2 and 3 (though I also worry about how Rich Hill will handle a home playoff game).
I guess what I'm saying is that the Cubs can win it, but they are also quite capable of losing too. How enlightening is that? ;-)
As for the D-Backs, the interesting thing about them is that although they had the best record in the NL, they also gave up more runs than they allowed. That is RARE -- usually, a team's runs scored/runs allowed correlates well with their overall record. In this case, it means that the D-Backs have tended to win a lot of close games (they are 32-20 in one-run games), but when they lose, they lose by a lot (they've had games where they lost by 11, 13, and 14).
