If you're not familiar with the story behind "The Homer in the Gloamin' " you should read the brief paragraph provided in the link. It's famous baseball lore, important in Cubs lore and just a cool thing to know about. In 1938, the Cubs had been to 4 World Series in 10 years. Wow.
Tonight I mention it because I was playing softball out in Arlington Heights and it was so foggy, at various points during the game, you literally couldn't see the right fielder from our bench. Granted, he was wearing dark colors, but still, it was insane. The captains finally decided to call the second game as no one could see what the hell was going on and someone was going to get hurt. Up until then, I was having a great day at the plate! ;-)
My body is fighting back today. Friday I went golfing (while it rained for 10 holes), then had the harrowing 5+ hours drive to near St. Louis. Then Saturday was the four softball games over 10+ hours and more rain at night. Sunday was early to rise and another game before the 5 hour drive home. Monday was my personal training session with Sadist Joel and tonight I had a double header and spent almost three hours driving. My shoulders ache and I'm pretty tired. I need a day off.....at least from physical stuff. Shouldn't be a problem. Next workout is scheduled for Friday.

Monday to Saturday last week, triathlon training. Sunday, two hours of fast-pitch catching and 1-2 day at the plate. Monday, I ran five miles. Last night, biked five miles to softball practice and back (practice was 2.5 hours). Yeah, I'm looking forward to tri training tapering from now on, since the event is less than two weeks away. I know how you hurt, buddy.
man, you guys are being fit enough to cover my lazy ass's share.
