Saturday night we took in a Chicago Bandits women's pro softball game. Two of their players, Pepper Wilson and Jamie Southern came to our games on Saturday, kept score and even coached first. I tell you, we were quite the hit of the tournament having a hot first base coach! Quite the distraction for the other team. Our coach, Blind Ryan does some sports reporting for his real job and did some work with Jamie.
Here's Jamie and Pepper.
Pepper is a catcher and has a torn labrum currently, so she's on the DL. Jamie is a pitcher and was actually starting Saturday night against Team Canada, the Canadian Olympic team. She can really bring the heat. It was cool. They play pretty far west of town (HWY 90 and route 31 if you know the area) at Judson University, but it's still east of Crystal Lake(!!) which is where my softball tournament was. It's only $10 to get a seat in the 2,000 seat stadium, $25 if you want a VIP seat where hot women in skimpy outfits serve you food and beverages while you sit behind home plate. Unfortunately, there's no alcohol allowed on the grounds. Ugh.
OMG, how cute is this picture??
Well, they didn't end up winning, but it was still a fun experience. There were lots of girls softball teams there and they had fun things going on in between innings. Good times for families and little gals.
Sunday, we were one and done in the tournament, getting pounded 19-4. Not good. What made it worse was that I was subbed for in the third inning and I didn't even get a chance to hit! Six freaking hours between driving, waiting for the game (the start time of which was delayed by rain earlier), warming up and then driving home. That sucked. Needless to say I was pretty pissed. Not much you can do though. When you only play one game and only have six people come to the plate the first two innings, it's going to be tough on everyone.

Awesome combining two of your favorite things - softball and lust.
I love the winking picture! I am totally copying this in the next foto shoot chance I get!
Sorry about your bad sports weekend, but I'm sure the softball chicks made up for it. A couple of summers ago, my softball chicks and I went out to watch the Bandits play, too. It was at Benedictine University then in Lisle. No alcohol either, but lots of hot dogs. We were watching pitchers get warmed up in the middle of the game and I saw one of the had FREEL across her jersey. So I yelled at her, "Hey, are you Ryan's sister?"
She glared at me and was like, "NO. Everyone asks me that" in a snarky tone.
Oops, sorry, whatever. But girlie, that attitude is not appreciated no matter what your last name, not even Sandberg nor Grace.
I was totally excited to take the Dukes there until you mentioned the no alcohol thing. oh well. maybe i will just have to suk it up and attend a sports event sober.
You can sneak booze in if you like Stef. There's NO security and two of our guys accidentally walked in and had to come back and pay, but not because anyone told them to! Those little airline bottles work great there.
