Busy Saturday

Sorry for the missed few days. Busy, busy!! Friday, GF and I (I am working on a moniker for GF, but haven't come up with anything yet) caught up on Tivo from the week. We have very similar interests in television shows (except she doesn't like as many animated shows as I do, like Family Guy....what's up with THAT??) so if we have busy weeks where we don't see each other, the good shows build up quickly and we can have a nice relaxing night at home on the sofa.

Saturday though, we headed out early (well, early for me) to a swap meet held in the parking lot at Soldier Field. Haven't been to a flea market in a while and apparently Frank Fontana from Design on a Dime on HGTV was supposed to be there.

This might be Frank in the picture, I'm not sure. Picked up a couple of things, including a Christmas or birthday gift for one lucky individual.

GF and I headed to The Bagel for lunch, her first visit. A very filling meal as always.

On the way, we saw this restaurant. Stella is Joisey Ken's baby's name too! Thought I'd take a picture for posterity sake. So though I don't know any Stellas, I do know of a diner, batting cages and the beer (Stella Artois).

Appropriately, on the side of the building, is painted this picture. I see a future halloween costume for baby Stella!!

Saturday night we headed out to Schaumburg to meet friends of the GF. Oddly, they actually live in Naperville, but they like to go to Improv Chicago at Woodfield Mall to see comedians. We ate at Shaws Crab House, a bit pricey for what you get, but I can see why suburbanites would enjoy it, and then took in the 9:00 show. The comedian was Mitch Fatel who has been on Comedy Central and was pretty damn funny. The link above is about 6 minutes of the material that he did last night.

Since I was out and about, I obviously coulndn't watch the Bulls game 7 or the Blackhawks game 2 in Vancouver. So I Tivoed both of them and opted to watch the Bulls game first. Even fast forwarding didn't help the bad performance. A game they certainly could have won, but they pissed it away. Then I swiched to the Blackhawks, but could only keep my eyes open for the first period in which the Canucks held a 2-0 lead. Damn.

This morning though, I avoided news contact and even made coffee to avoid accidentally finding something out at Starbucks. The Blackhawks scored 5 unanswered goals and ended up winning 6-3. Very awesome.

Whoa - a left jab and an upper cut to the suburbanites.

I came to love the flea markets last year. Bought some nice items for the condo. I'm sure I will be out there again this summer.

As for sports, it was the trifecta on Saturday night. I got to watch the Bulls (Boo!), Hawks (Yay!) and the Pacquiao vs Hatton fight (Ouch!!)

Checking your blog to see if the morels came back this year! I found 4 in my back yard by surprise this year, after hunting all over IN last year and finding nothing. Hope all is well!

Hi KC! Nope, no morels yet. Good for you though in finding some! I was wondering if it was too early, but I guess not. Just a random chance.

Dog Brian you watched the fight?! Dammit, I didn't get to see it, though I guess the undercard had to be better than the actual fight huh?
