Not so fun entry

Had a more upbeat entry in the works, but maybe I'll save that for tomorrow. I spoke with a good buddy of mine who lives out in Jersey and is moving to Baltimore. He worked for Merrill Lynch and left in September for a job at T.Rowe Price. Nice timing! Anyway, after we caught up, he told me about a mutual friend of ours and co-worker at Morningstar who passed away.

Jay Tight was in his mid 30's and really nice guy. We golfed at a charity outing together and even hooped it up in the Morningstar Basketball League (MBL). He since had gotten married, moved to Tampa and had three kids. As a wholesaler of investment vehicles, I'm sure he was living a pretty good life. Apparently he was in a car accident shortly after Christmas. Very sad story.

UPDATE:

His car swerved into a bridge column at about 1:00 in the afternoon at the intersection of hwy 75 and 275 just south of St. Petersburg. Very odd circumstances and an awful result. It looks like it was a pretty quick death though, if there's any upside at all to a tragedy like this.

A wife and 3 kids..like me!! This just makes me think if something happened to me, who would take care of my family and be there for them...I'm more spooked about that, rather than death itself.

I hope Jay's family is okay.

Oh that is sad. My heart goes out to his family.

Yet another reminder that we live our lives only at the grace of forces beyond our understanding and that the wonderful things we have should never be taken for granted.

wow, that is very sad - and true, you never know what the future will bring!

Oh man, that's awful. I lost two grandparents this year, and while both deaths were expected, it still instills a sense of perspective in me that I have not found in 31 years of living. I'm glad to have it. And I'm glad to have spent the year away from home indulging in this quality time. I am looking forward to going back to my second hometown though. :)
